Sunchild First Nation School has an opening for an additional elementary teacher due to increased enrolment for the remainder of the 2023-2024 School year.
 
The school administration is seeking an enthusiastic and creative individual willing to join an incredible staff who brings experience, endless energy and devotion to teaching Aboriginal youth.  The successful applicant needs to be highly organized, create an engaging learning environment and have high professional standards.  The applicant needs to be able to indigenize content and pedagogy, support learners with diverse strategies and approaches as well as bring innovative solutions to learning challenges experienced by students.
 
Sunchild School is a K to Grade 12 School with 350 students and 70 staff, many of whom have worked at the school for 12+ years.  The teaching facilities are well-equipped and offer bright and technology-rich learning environments.  The staff is dedicated to student-centred programming that promotes academic excellence and exposes students to innovative extracurricular activities.
 
The school is located 65 km northwest of Rocky Mountain House. There will be availability in teacher housing close to the school.  We have a competitive pension and benefit package, as well as salaries comparable to the provincial school boards.
 
Teachers must be eligible for Alberta Teachers certification.  New graduates of Bachelor of Education programs are encouraged to apply.  The successful candidate must also submit a criminal record check and intervention record checks as a condition of employment. 
 
The start date for the position is based on the selection of a suitable candidate.
